A supertransferred hyperfine field and its temperature dependency was observed for a diamagnetic Lu impurity introduced into Yb‐sites in YbIG. The contribution from the Yb sublattice is fairly large and the hyperfine field follows the total magnetization rather than any of the sublattice magnetizations. As intermediate results it has been verified that the electronic ground state of a daughter atom (Lu) of a radioactive decay in an insulating medium is reached in a time short compared to 10 −9 s and that the nuclear magnetic moment of the 114 keV state in 175 Lu is (1.99 ± 0.15) μ N .
