An ENDOR investigation of U 2 centres in RbCl is reported. The superhyperfine and quadrupole constants of two Rb shells and one Cl shell in the surrounding lattice are determined. The experimental results are compared with those obtained in other alkali halides. The measurements are interpreted in terms of a simple U 2 centre wave function.
