In OH‐free grown NaCl (Ca ++ ) crystals three paramagnetic V‐centres can be observed under different conditions. Irradiation of the crystals with X‐rays at liquid nitrogen temperature produces V K ‐centres, irradiation at dry ice temperature or warming up the V K ‐centre causes the V   K M ‐centre to appear. At room temperature X‐irradiation leads to a paramagnetic centre which may be considered with high probability to be a V F ‐centre.
