The thermal conductivity of the semiconductor compounds GeS and GeSe has been measured in an argon atmosphere in the range from room temperature to 500 °C. The analysis of the data obtained indicates that the heat transfer in these compounds is governed by phonons. The applicability of Keyes' formula to the description of the high‐temperature thermal conductivity of germanium chalcogenides is demonstrated.
