From the translational symmetry of the Bloch electron in a magnetic field the main features of the magnetic energy band model are derived. Matrix elements and expectation values of the Bloch electron in a magnetic field as well as its dynamic properties in an additional electric field are calculated in far‐reaching analogy to the ordinary Bloch case. Some of the related problems are discussed.
