The statistical thermodynamics of the electron gas in dispersed metals are developed. The assumptions are as follows: the one‐particle levels have the random character described by one of three possible Dyson ensembles with the homogeneous average level spacing δ. This value is of the order of the Fermi energy divided by the total number of electrons with possible surface corrections. The thermodynamical functions are explicitely calculated in two limiting cases: for kT much greater than δ and for kT much smaller than δ. In such a way we obtain the extension of Kubo's and Gorkov‐Eliashberg's results. The applicability of the present theory to transition metals is also discussed.
