The dielectric constant ε of triglycine sulfate has been measured along the ferroelectric axis in the vicinity of the transition temperature T c . The thickness dependence of the maximum ε‐values can be explained by assuming two different surface layers. The outermost layer is formed during the preparation of the electrodes, whereas the second one with a thickness of the order of 1 mm can be attributed to the dielectric inhomogeneity of the crystal at T c .
