The photoconductivity of additively coloured CsBr crystals was measured in function of wavelength and temperature. The temperature dependence of the quantum efficiency for the two main components of the F‐band is found to be identical. A possible explanation is given following Fowler's suggestion about a diffuse relaxed excited state after absorption. When the temperature dependence of the mobility is taken into account and the expression of Swank and Brown for η is used, a theoretical curve of η w as a function of temperature can be fitted to the experiment with a thermal ionization energy of 0.065 eV. F‐aggregate centers are formed when the F‐band is optically bleached at _ 100 °C. The temperature behaviour of the photoresponse and the spectral distribution at LHT and LNT have been investigated while the F‐band is systematically bleached.
