The 10 mol% Al‐substituted yttrium orthoferrite (YFe 0.9 Al 0.1 O 3 ) crystal becomes uniaxially antiferromagnetic at 602 °K. It exhibits weak ferromagnetism at about 600 °K. The magnetization data were used to test the models for the origin of weak ferromagnetism. The antisymmetrical exchange (Dzyaloshinsky‐Moriya) model was found to be a better suited model. Parameters for the model were calculated from the data.
