The luminescent and photoconductive properties of the complex B‐band in additively coloured KCl: Ag are investigated in the temperature range between 300 °K and liquid helium temperature. A mechanism is proposed to account for the absence of low temperature fluorescence and the parallel occurrence of photoconductivity and luminescence at higher temperatures. The experimental data are discussed on the basis of a configuration coordinate diagram.
