Abstract A quasi‐local level appears in the vibrational spectrum of a titanium lattice containing 5 at % of uranium. This is investigated both by neutron inelastic scattering techniques and by measuring the low‐temperature heat capacity. The results obtained are found to be in satisfactory agreement with theoretical calculation.
