The ESR of Co 2+ ions in the slightly deformed octahedral field of BaTiO 3 single crystals is observed. The values of the isotropic parts of the g ‐factor and the hyperfine parameter A are determined from the spectra. The effect of thermal treatment in oxygen and hydrogen atmospheres is observed. The measured values of the g ‐factor and of the hyperfine parameter A are discussed and compared with the values of these parameters in MgO crystals.
