The pseudo‐potential is set up for the Cauchy problem of the Hartree‐Fock equation for an extra electron outside of an atomic system with closed shells. As an approximation to this potential a “model” potential is set up and the method of its determination is developed. The results of calculations for Na + and Cl − ions are given. The quality of the approximation of the model potential is discussed. The model potential can be applied to the calculation of the valence electron in ionic crystals.
