A series of numerically calculated fringe profiles shows that images of zig‐zag fringes superposed on wavy fringe patterns in BaTiO 3 result from three superposed ferro‐electric domain walls. The two outer walls being 90° boundaries, while the central interface is a 180° boundary which, in order to decrease the electrostatic energy, “meanders” between the two 90° walls.
