A general expression for the operator for the interaction of molecular excitons with acoustic and optical phonons is obtained in a linear approximation. An explicit expression is found for the dependence of exciton‐phonon interactions on their wave‐vectors for a one dimensional crystal and for crystals of cubic, rhombic and tetragonal systems. The results obtained are compared with the operator for the interaction of free electrons and Wannier excitons with acoustic and optical vibrations in ionic crystals.
