Abstract Dynamics tensile tests ( \documentclass{article}\pagestyle{empty}\begin{document}$ \dot \varepsilon $\end{document} = 1.6 × 10 −4 s −1 ) are performed on polycrystalline α‐Cu‐Sn alloys. The effects of temperature ( T ) and composition ( c ) on the yield point σ St are investigated. In the temperature range T ⪅ 300°K the relation σ St = ( a 1 ‐ b 1 T 1/3 ) \documentclass{article}\pagestyle{empty}\begin{document}$ \sqrt c $\end{document} holds where a 1 and b 1 are constants. This dependence can be estimated theoretically from the elastic interaction of Sn‐atoms with dislocations. Theory and experiment agree quite well.
