Calculations are made of free carrier magneto‐optical phenomena in the presence of an external d.c. electric field assuming a quadratic deviation from Ohm's law. The calculations are based on the assumption of non‐parabolic energy bands with spherical symmetry. Expressions are obtained for the Faraday effect, and the Voigt effect in a d.c. electric field as well as for the electro‐optical Kerr effect in a magnetic field.
