Layer‐like field inhomogeneities in homogeneous photoconductors are discussed using the model proposed by Kiess and Stöckmann, referring to the field emission of minority carriers. By neglecting diffusion, the stationary solutions obtained are shown to describe the potential variations measured in CdS by Kiess indicating a new current saturation effect in photoconductors. Some experimental results on current oscillations observed in Se by Polke and Hasler are also discussed.
