A study is made of the effect of grain size and substructure on the microstrain region and on the transition to the macrostrain region. The results do not agree with the conclusions obtained from the Brown‐Lukens theory. The possibility of using statistical theory to describe the stress‐strain dependences in the microstrain region is considered.
