The internal friction of a 4% SiFe alloy is measured in the region 400 to 700°C using single crystal specimens. A Zener peak is found in this temperature range. The results for the relaxation time τ = τ 0 exp [ Q/RT ] are: τ 0 = 8 × 10 −20±0.6 s; Q = (69±2.5) × 10 3 cal/mol for the [100] direction; τ 0 = 1.7 × 10 −19±0.3 s, Q = (69±1.5) × 10 3 cal/mol for the [111] direction.
