The release of tritium from neutron irradiated LiF single crystals (5.4 × 10 16 nvt, at approximately 300 °C) follows the relation D = 6 exp (−38800/ RT ) cm 2 s −1 between 500 °C and the melting point. Volume diffusion kinetics are obtained from isothermal experiments. The tritium diffusion is found to be essentially independent of the neutron dose (3 × 10 16 to 3 × 10 17 nvt) and nominal temperature during irradiation (−80 to 200 °C). Data obtained following ion bombardment confirm these results.
