The electrical charge of newly created dislocations in non‐irradiated and γ‐irradiated LiF is studied by the indentation method. In both cases the dislocations are negatively charged. Subsequent annealing after irradiation produces a reversal of sign of that charge, the first isoelectric temperature being located in the range of bleaching of F‐ and M‐centres. These effects are attributed to negative vacancies produced by irradiation and thermal bleaching.
