Investigations are made of the magnetic properties of multilayer magnetic films consisting of FeNiMn and permalloy which have exchange anisotropy. It is found that a unidirectional anisotropy and an additional uniaxial anisotropy appear simultaneously. At the same time rotational hysteresis losses which do not vanish even in fields as high as 10 kOe, and a large magnetic after‐effect are observed. The domain structure observations show that thin film remagnetization starts by means of a bidirectional rotation, and after the appearance of domains of opposite polarity the process of wall movement proceeds. The easy direction of the unidirectional anisotropy cannot be rotated at room temperature even in fields of 180 kOe.
