Abstract The paramagnetic resonance of Pt 3+ ions in niobium doped BaTiO 3 single crystals is investigated at a temperature of 4 °K. The hyperfine parameter A is found to be (0 ± 5) × 10 −4 cm −1 . The hyperfine field resulting from core polarization by the unpaired 5d‐electrons in platinum is deduced using this value.
