A similarity is shown between the spectra of the tetrahedral and octahedral symmetry bivalent cobalt complexes in the 17000 to 20200 cm −1 region. Various interpretations of this similarity are discussed, special mention being made of the positions of the peaks in the corresponding absorption spectra.
