The anomalous absorption coefficients \documentclass{article}\pagestyle{empty}\begin{document}$ \tilde \sigma _2 $\end{document} are measured for 220 and 111 Bragg reflections of Si single crystals for CuK   α   1radiation. The measurements are made with a three‐crystal X‐ray spectrometer which allows the relative angular position of the crystal under investigation to be controlled to within ±1″. The method of measurement consists of comparing intensity values in the maximum transmitted beam for various thicknesses in the range 0 ≤ σ 2min D ≤ 12. The effect of primary beam divergence on the values of the measured anomalous absorption coefficients is estimated using the theory of the three‐crystal X‐ray spectrometer.
