Expressions are given for the displacement field and the dilatation stress of a semi‐infinite dipole of infinitesimal width. This corresponds to a long‐range approximation for a dipole of finite width terminated within the crystal. The expressions also apply to a jog in a dislocation. Apart from these angular dependence, the displacement field decreases with distance as r −1 and the stress field as r −2 .
