The spectrum of the Δ m s = 3, 4, and 5 transitions of Fe 3+ in single crystals of MgO has been measured. A computer was used to solve the secular equation of the spin Hamiltonian appropriate for Fe 3+ in a cubic site in MgO. A table of the angular dependence of the energy levels as a function of magnetic field in the dimensionless quantities W/a vs. g β H /2 a is given for g β H /2 a between 1.30 and 2.50. The experimental data for the angular dependence of these lines is compared with the calculated values and the agreement found to be within experimental error.
