It is shown that the compressibilities of the solid elements may be systematically expressed as a function of atomic volume for definite isoperiodic series. In the absence of pressure induced discontinuities, such as a phase change, the isoperiodic relationships are independent of pressure. The following isothermal coefficients of volume compressibility (β × 10 7 cm 2 /kg at room temperature and one atmosphere) are predicted: α‐Sc: ∼ 20, Tc: 2.8, α‐Tb: 28, Re: 2.7, Os: 2.7, α‐Po: ∼ 35, and if trivalent, Pm: 33.
