The lattice relaxation energy caused by a vacancy is calculated by using the general theory of Part I of this work. The lattice‐centre displacements, produced by a vacancy pair, and the interaction energy between two vacancies are also evaluated. Some matrices required in this work are tabulated; numerical results for argon at 80 °K are given.
