The modifications of the domain structure of barium ferrite single crystals, under the influence of an external magnetic field, are investigated. The modifications observed for all the four types of patterns characteristic of barium ferrite single crystals, are in favour of a domain structure model consisting of 18° domains magnetized in the two easy‐directions, without closure domains in the hexagonal planes. Planemetry of the areas of domains of opposite polarity gives an estimate of the magnetization of the samples for various values of applied field.
