Recent published experimental results relating to magnetic resonance, absorption, spontaneous fluorescence, and induced emission, on uranium‐doped CaF 2 crystals are discussed. New experiments are then reported which have yielded a dependence of the spectral intensity distribution of the spontaneous fluorescence on the wavelength of the exciting light. Two distinct types of emission spectra have now been established.
