The Debye characteristic temperature for the longitudinal modes is evaluated for a few metals by modified Houston's method and is found to be much larger than that deduced from the analysis of the experiments on the temperature depedence of the resistance of metals in the light of Bloch's theory. The causes of the discrepancy are discussed.
