A reliable method has been developed for the synthesis of nanohybrids with CdS nanoparticles decorating the surface of the interlayer structured CoAl‐layered double hydroxides (CoAl/CdS‐LDHs), which was implemented by combining methods of hydrothermal, anion‐exchange, and gas‐liquid sulfide reaction. The samples were characterized by various techniques, including X‐ray powder diffraction (XRD), Fourier Transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), UV‐Vis spectrometer, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and Brunauer–Emmett–Teller (BET) analyses. The present work presents an efficient route for decorating CoAl‐LDHs with CdS nanoparticles; in this way, the photocatalytic activity of CoAl‐LDHs under irradiation of visible light can be effectively adjusted. The as‐developed strategy may open up a promising avenue for designing and functionalizing layered double hydroxides (LDHs) materials with improved photocatalytic activity.
