F‐modified C‐doped TiO 2 composites (CF‐TiO 2 ) were synthesized via a simple sol‐gel method by using NaF as the fluorine source followed by heat treatment at 700 °C in nitrogen atmosphere. The as‐prepared CF‐TiO 2 composites were characterized via transmission electron microscopy, X‐ray diffraction, N 2 sorption, X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy, UV‐Vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy, and photoluminescence. Carbon was doped into the anatase titania lattice, and the surface of C‐doped TiO 2 were modified by fluorine species. The CF‐TiO 2 composite showed excellent photocatalytic activity in degrading methylene blue under sunlight and simulated sunlight irradiation.
