Thermoelectric materials Ag 0.8 Pb 18 SbTe 20 alloyed with Se in the composition of Ag 0.8 Pb 18 SbTe 20– x Se x ( x  = 0, 5, 10, 15) were prepared by a high‐pressure method. The composition dependence of transport properties was studied from 100 K to room temperature. The thermal conductivity of Ag 0.8 Pb 18 SbTe 20 was depressed sharply by alloying with Se, and the Seebeck coefficient and resistivity were tuned effectively by adjusting the Se content. The maximum figure of merit ZT = 0.43 was obtained at x  = 10, which is about 70% higher than that of the unalloyed sample.
