Printed electronics is an emerging technology with the potential to reach a multi‐billion dollar market size in the near future. As the first commercial applications are introduced to the market, the Feature Article by Mark A. M. Leenen and co‐workers, pp. 588–597, guides us through this complex multidisciplinary field, highlighting the technological challenges which still exist and those that have been already resolved, and underlines the need of future fundamental research in all facets of printing electronics. The back cover depicts few of the most interesting applications described in the article: printed source–drain finger structures (top left), a printed RFID antenna for UHF application (top right), a transistor characterization setup (bottom left) and a typical conjugated semiconducting polymer (bottom right) (© 2009 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co.
