Abstract Orthorhombic hen egg‐white (HEW) lysozyme crystals were examined by means of synchrotron X‐ray topography by the white beam technique. Four kinds of straight dislocations were clearly observed. From the extinction criterion of the dislocation images, Burgers vectors were identified to be [001], [ $ \bar 1 $ 10] and [0 $ \bar 1 $ 1].
