We have studied the possibility of using (nano‐)porous GaAs top layers as antireflective coating and optical diffusor in high‐efficiency III‐V solar cells. Antireflective coating behaviour of thin, nanoporous GaAs layers has been demonstrated, whereas initial experiments on applying these porous layers on top of a GaAs solar cell structure also suggest an optical diffusion of the incident light in the porous layer.
