Infrared absorption spectra of shallow electron centres in plastically deformed silver halide crystals are measured. The spectra consist of a sharp peak due to the isolated centres and a broad peak which shows splitting that may be due to the symmetry lowering along the dislocation edge, indicating some of the shallow electron centres are trapped on the dislocation lines.
