A new phosphor Cd 3 Al 2 Ge 3 O 12 :Dy was synthesized by a traditional solid‐state reaction method. The luminescent properties and thermoluminescence curves were investigated and energy transfer from the host to Dy 3+ was observed after the UV light was shut. The duration can reach about 1 h in the light perception of dark‐adapted human eyes (0.32 mcd/m 2 ). (© 2005 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)
