The prescribing of sulfonylureas has declined in recent years with the introduction of newer agents in the treatment of type 2 diabetes. The authors argue, however, that the judicial use of a sulfonyl ‐ urea can still be both effective and well tolerated. Copyright © 2011 Wiley Interface Ltd
