Treatment of syphilis should take place in a GUM or sexual health clinic, but GPs still have a very important role in identifying the infection and ensuring that the right people are tested. This article describes different stages of syphilis and the signs and symptoms to look for, and provides an overview of its diagnosis and treatment.
