The recommended management of osteoporosis has recently changed, with an emphasis now on assessment and reduction in fracture risk, rather than treatment. In this review, Drs Woodcraft and Clark discuss the assessment of fracture risk, proposed treatment thresholds, current management and the use of medications to reduce fracture risk.
