Abstract Prework in preparation for process hazard analysis (PHA) is vital for an efficient study. Precompletion of PHA worksheets in an effort to reduce the time needed for a PHA study may detract from the quality of the study and also may not be acceptable to regulators. Appropriate prework is described, and proposals are made for when worksheets can be precompleted. © 2012 American Institute of Chemical Engineers Process Saf Prog, 2012
