This article describes the elements of a successful stationary equipment reliability program in a petrochemical facility. The paper addresses management systems, engineering practices, preventive/predictive maintenance/inspection systems, performance metrics, and resources. The paper shares the stationary equipment reliability program at Lyondell Chemical Company and a number of best practices developed as part of the reliability program. Also, some success stories and lessons learned are shared. © 2007 American Institute of Chemical Engineers Process Saf Prog, 2008
