In the review a formulation of massless relativistic (super) particle theories relying on the use of commuting twistor‐type variables is considered. This formulation makes a bridge between twistor and space‐time description of the particle dynamics. Supersymmetrizations of the scalar particle dynamics lead to the theories which are invariant under the local supersymmetry of the particle proper time and the global space‐time supersymmetry. In the space‐time dimensions D = 2, 3, 4, 6, 10 the theories of this type allow one to consider the superparticle Siegel symmetry as the manifestation of the local n = D – 2 proper time supersymmetry, and help to establish the correspondence between the spinning particle and superparticle dynamics.
