Field theories with soliton conservation laws are the most promising candidates for explicitly constructable models. We exemplify in the case of the massive Thirring model how the old S matrix bootstrap idea, supplemented with a soliton factorization property, may be used as a systematic starting point for the construction of the S matrix, form factors and (hopefully) correlation functions.
