Magnetic moments of long lived high spin isomers can be measured to high precision by a number of different methods applicable in different ranges of half lives. The high spin states in the Hf‐ and Pb‐region have a relatively simple and well understood structure. An analysis of the magnetic moments of these states gives the following results: i The additivity theorem is fulfilled. ii The agreement between experimental and calculated values is satisfactory. iii In many cases the moment can contribute to the clarification of the structure of the state. iv The influence of mesonic exchange currents on the g l ‐factor can be determined experimentally.
