The search for lead‐free, environmentally friendly explosives has been a highly challenging task in the field of energetic materials. Herein, an energetic salt, potassium 5‐(2,2‐diamino‐1‐nitrovinyl)tetrazolate ( 2 ) was prepared by the combination of tetrazole containing energetic anion and potassium cation with an outstanding initiating performance. It was fully characterized by IR spectrum, NMR spectrum, and elemental analysis. The structure was further determined by single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction analysis. It exhibited high density, high heat of formation, and excellent detonation performance; In addition, the highly thermal decomposition temperature and acceptable mechanical sensitivities guaranteed its application as a next‐generation primary explosive.
